For three days, Roanoke, VA, gathers to celebrate and spend time together at the Go Outside Festival. Discover new passions and share old ones with neighbors and people you’ve never met over three days of excitement. There’s something for everybody at the GO Fest, from movies to paddleboarding. So, get ready and gear up for Go Outside Festival this year.
Get Active
Roanoke Parks and Recreation and the Roanoke Outside Foundation partner every year to bring locals the Go Outside Festival. Also known as GO Fest, it features a mix of activities each day. The Go Outside Festival is coming from Oct. 14-16, 2022. The activities kick off at 5:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. On Saturday, join the Race Against the Clock bright and early at 8:00 a.m. Racers see how quickly they can climb up Mill Mountain by running, biking, or both. You’ll be rewarded with a gorgeous view of Roanoke and a huge sense of accomplishment. Then, stay and shake your tail at a fun concert. Then, on Sunday, come on back for the final day at 10:00 a.m.
GO Fest attendees can do a ruck to the festival with Ferguson Fitness or demo activities each day. In addition, you can watch others demonstrate their talents at the BMX stunt show or the lumberjack show.
Get Creative
Get out of your house and get to the main stage to attend the Banff Mountain Film Festival. You’ll see breathtaking footage of majestic mountains in the brisk evening air. In addition, this event is great for all ages and will inspire you to set that peak climbing goal. Of course, you don’t have to register for the Banff Mountain Film Festival. But, you may want to arrive early to get a great viewing spot.
Get Going
Families will love the GO Fest activities, especially the Hike It Baby Scavenger Hunt Bingo. You’ll need to meet at the Campfire Stage at 10:45 a.m. Families will go on a nature hunt with bingo cards. Kids who complete a bingo can turn their cards in for a small prize. It’s a great way to look at beautiful Roanoke with fresh eyes.
Kids and those who are kids at heart will also love the lumberjack show. This action-packed show is a non-stop display of incredible skill with axes, chainsaws, and more. Fortunately, there are lumberjack shows on all three days, multiple times. You’re going to want to catch this show more than once.
