College Football Returns To Virginia

College Football

When you live in the South, it’s either college football season or it isn’t. Nothing else matters. When it isn’t college football season, you try to get by with other sports, but it’s not the same. When it is college football season, you look forward to every game like a kid getting ready for Christmas. Well, get ready to unwrap your first present of the season. College football is about to return to Virginia, and you have lots of reasons to get excited.

Virginia Tech – Getting Ready for an Explosive Season

Are you a Virginia Tech fan? You have a big reason to celebrate this year. Virginia Tech is going to open its season at Florida State on Sept. 3, and insiders are expecting the Hokies to walk away with the Week 1 win.

The off-season got a little wild for Florida State. Jimbo Fisher is out as head coach, Willie Taggart is in, and the new coach still hasn’t picked a starting quarterback. Virginia Tech is bringing back its starting quarterback plus a lot of other key players. That extra experience will give the Hokies a clear advantage in what is sure to be one of the most exciting (and important) matchups during Week 1.

UVA – Can It Meet Its Expectations?

Expectations are big for UVA this year. The team might have experienced some trouble in the past, but fans are expecting the team to make it to a bowl for the second season in a row. That means it needs to net at least six wins, something it should be able to do with its schedule. Its schedule might be on the weak end, but it can use that to build some momentum for this season and beyond.

UVA is going to open its season against Richmond on Sept. 1 at Scott Stadium. The Richmond Spiders won six games last year, but UVA is expected to handle this matchup pretty easily. It will be the 34th time the two teams have met, and UVA leads the series 28-3-2. Don’t expect an upset when the two teams go to battle to start the year.
