What do around 30,000 people have in common year in and year out? They attend Olde Salem Days and now is your chance to join them when Virginia’s premier arts and crafts festival return to downtown Salem on Sept. 8. The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature hundreds of exhibitors. Expect to see everything from hand-carved train sets to antique cars. This festival has been running since 1982 for a reason. It has something for everyone, and the people of Virginia cannot get enough.
Where Should You Park?
There will likely be at least 30,000 people at the event, and it might even draw in 50,000, depending on the weather. As you can imagine, parking can be a pain if you don’t know where to go. Make it easy on yourself by parking at the Salem Civic Center and then taking the free shuttle over. That’s much easier than trying to park by Main Street. You will waste lots of time looking for a parking spot if you get anywhere near the event.
What to Expect
Olde Salem Days is kind of like a party. Yes, you can do your shopping. There are all kinds of arts and craft vendors, and many only come out for this event. That means you can find stuff at Olde Salem Days you can’t find anywhere else.
This is more than a place to buy arts and crafts, though. There will be a car show, music, and food, plus lots of activities for kids. The kiddos can get their faces painted and so much more. Everyone has a blast at Olde Salem Days.

Doing Good at Olde Salem Days
Olde Salem Days is more than a party. It’s a way for the Rotary Club of Salem to raise much-needed funds. This is the group’s biggest fundraising event, and it manages to get quite a bit of money from it. For instance, in 2015, the group was able to give local organizations $70,000 after this fundraiser.
Simply attending the event is a great way to help your community. However, if you want to do even more, you can be a sponsor or a volunteer. Contact the organizers at Olde Salem Days to find out more about how to be a part of the event.
The organizers have a lot to do to get ready for Olde Salem Days. You can do a little getting ready yourself by picking up a new ride at Berglund Automotive in Roanoke, Virginia. You’ll want to show up in style, and that won’t be a problem when you pick up a new car, truck, or SUV from us.
