Raise Money to Go Over the Edge

Go Over the Edge

Big Brothers and Big Sisters is an excellent organization, and you can do your part by raising money by going Over the Edge. This rappelling event will take place on May 19 and begins at 8 a.m. You will rappel down all 11 stories of The Patrick Henry, which is one of the tallest buildings in all of Roanoke Valley. You need to register and raise $1,000 to go to Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Then, you will be able to go Over the Edge.

Sound like fun? You better get to fundraising then. Here are some tips to help with your fundraising efforts.

Talk to Your Friends and Family

Your friends and family are your biggest supporters, and they will want to help you out. Talk to them about your desire to rappel over the edge and see if they can donate some money. Remind them that every little bit helps. Be sure to explain where the money will go. They might not want to give money just so you can rappel, but many will be willing to give money to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.

Create a Website

A fundraising website is a great way to raise some extra funds. Set something up using WordPress, and let people donate via PayPal. Include an explanation of the cause and the event. Be sure to add some pictures to the website as well. Some simple photos will go a long way in getting people’s attention.

Use Social Media

The younger generation has proven you don’t have to know people on social media to reach them. Ask them how many people on their friends list they’ve met in real life, and they’ll give you a shrug of the shoulders and maybe a roll of the eyes.

The message is clear. Social media is meant for networking with people you don’t even know.

Use that to your advantage by doing some fundraising online. Post in groups and use hashtags to reach as many people as possible. Jump into conversations. Let people know what you’re trying to accomplish, and let them be a part of the fun.

You can also drive around to local businesses and ask for sponsorships. First, though, you need a ride that’s up to the challenge. Let Berglund Automotive in Roanoke, Virginia, help you find the wheels you need. With our help, you will be able to zip around and ask for donations. You’ll also get to your rappelling adventure without any trouble.
