Both the Mercedes-Benz CLA and Audi A3 are newer entry-level models from their respective luxury car brands. Thanks to their help, Roanoke drivers can now afford a premium vehicle without breaking the bank. The only question is which of these two vehicles is right for you.
Performance
Although both the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and the Audi A3 models have turbocharged 4-cylinder engines with direct injection, they are slightly different. Front-wheel-drive versions of the A3 have a 170-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged engine; all-wheel drive models get the 220-horsepower 2-liter turbo. Most CLA models have 208 horsepower courtesy of the 2-liter turbocharged engine. There is also an AMG CLA45 with 375 horsepower from its AMG 2-liter turbo. The CLA has more standard horsepower and more maximum output, but the A3 also offers respectable figures.
In reviews, experts say that the ride of the CLA is a bit better because of its lower amount of road noise. That being said, the A3 has sharper handling along with slightly better brakes and steering.
Appearance
When you look at the CLA and A3, you will notice very different styling. The A3 has a similar silhouette to the larger A4, with more detail at the sides and an abbreviated back. Meanwhile, the CLA has a low, swooping roofline and lots of influences from the SLK roadster in the cockpit. Both vehicles have excellent ratings for styling and material quality; it just comes down to personal preference.
Safety
Either of these two models will keep you incredibly safe. The Audi offers active safety, such as blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, and automatic braking. The Mercedes-Benz CLA has a few more features as standard, including the Attention Assist system and Collision Prevention Assist. While either model protects you, the CLA has more features on the lower trims than the A3.
