Skate into the holiday season this year at Elmwood on Ice in Downtown Roanoke. Elmwood Park’s outdoor ice-skating rink is open Wednesdays through Sundays until Jan. 30. Admission is $6 a person, and skate rentals are $2 each. Oh, and this year, the event includes putt-putt golf for $3. If you plan to skate and golf, your ticket will be $10, or you can get a season pass for $75. Elmwood on Ice Schedule

The hours vary by day of the week. You can stop by on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Fridays, the event is open to the public from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. It gets off to an earlier start on Saturdays, opening at 11 a.m. and running until 10 p.m. Then Elmwood on Ice runs from noon to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

While this is the main schedule, there will be some changes during the holiday season. The rink and putt-putt course will stay open later during the week when school is out. Plus, the hours are limited on Christmas Eve, and the event is closed on Christmas Day.

Unlimited Skating and Golfing

Because the admission cost is so reasonable, you might expect to only get to skate and golf for a little bit of time. However, you can ice skate and play mini-golf until the event closes for the day. Thus, get there early so you can enjoy hours of fun.

What if You Don’t Know How to Ice Skate?

If you aren’t comfortable on ice skates, the idea of going to Elmwood on Ice might make you a little nervous. However, the rink only holds up to 100 skaters at a time. Because of that, you won’t have to fight through big crowds, and that makes it much easier to get comfortable on your skates.
