Although the closest beach is still a little over four hours away, you can get into the beach spirit anytime by adding a few beach-inspired decor pieces to your home. The best part about a coastal look is that it usually looks best when you’ve DIY’d the project for an authentically rustic look. Get your beach on with one of these easy beachy DIY projects this spring!
Chalk Painted Side Table
You can transform any side table into beach-chic with a little chalk paint in nautical colors! In this tutorial, you can see how a few coats of teal chalk paint, vintage-inspired stencils, and some light distressing turned a regular vintage side table into the most adorable entryway table. The best thing about chalk paint is that you usually don’t need to apply multiple coats.
Sunburst Mirror
This coastal-inspired mirror will give any beach-themed room a big burst of nautical energy. To make it, you’ll use wooden shims (wooden paint-stirrers would work, too), a small round mirror, a wooden plate (check your local craft store!), twine, paint, a putty knife, and hot glue. The paint used for this project is thicker than normal, so you’ll gob it on with a putty knife for a textured, rustic look.
Pebble Bird Art
This is an easy craft to do with kids and it makes an absolutely adorable decor piece for any room of your home. All that you need to do is glue twigs and pebbles to thick white cardstock and draw little beaks and feet on the pebbles to finish the birds. Once the glue has dried, put the art in a frame of your choice with the glass removed.
Driftwood And Concrete Sailboat
Though this sailboat will most definitely sink thanks to its concrete base, it is the perfect adorable addition to your nautical decor. If you’ve never worked with crafting concrete before, this project is a great introduction! Once you’ve completed your first concrete project, you’re sure to think of more concrete projects for your home.
